DuPage County Arrest, Court, and Public Records
Arrest Records
DuPage County recorded 1,419 violent crimes and 12,682 property crimes in 2015, the last year with a complete set of records. These figures represent a 13% jump in violent crimes and a 1.7% dip in property crimes between 2014 and 2015.
A closer look at 2015 violent crime figures shows that there were 13 murders, 213 rapes, 869 aggravated assaults, and 324 robberies in DuPage County. Larceny was the most prevalent violent crime with 10,747 incidents. Other recorded property crimes in the county are 1,500 burglaries, 435 vehicle thefts, and 55 arsons. Compared to the previous year, DuPage County recorded lower rates of burglary (7.1%) and larceny (1.3%). Murder (18.2%), rape (41.1%), aggravated assault (7.5%), robbery (13.3%), vehicle theft (9%), and arson (16.7%) rates experienced significant year-on-year increases.
The Records Division of the DuPage County Sheriff is responsible for maintaining incident and traffic crash reports written by Deputies all over the county. It makes these available to the public for a fee and upon request. To obtain an incident or accident report, visit the Sheriff’s Office located at 501 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187. The Sheriff charges $5 per accident report and 50 cents per page for incident reports.
Criminal Records
In accordance with Illinois law, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for registering and tracking sex offenders in the county. In addition to maintaining an up-to-date registry of sex offenders, the Sheriff also makes these information publicly available. Visit the OffenderWatch page for DuPage County to search the county’s sex offender registry. Anyone can search this database to find registered sex offenders by name or pull a list of those living around a particular zip code. The Sheriff also maintains a list of incarcerated sex offenders as well as non-compliant ones.
The Sheriff’s Office keeps all jail and inmate records for DuPage County. It provides a useful inmate locator and information tool on its website. This Inmate Reference Information System provides a complete list of inmates currently in DuPage County jails. Visitors to the website can also access a list of inmates released in the past 24 hours.
Court Records
The Clerk of the Circuit Court is the official responsible for keeping all court records in DuPage County. The Clerk provides public access to these records from various information terminals. To access court records, use the computer terminals at the Office of the DuPage County Circuit Court Clerk located at 505 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL. The location opens to the public between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday.
Public Records
The Office of the County Clerk maintains and issues all vital records for DuPage County. It also provides copies of birth, death, marriage, and civil union certificates upon request. The County Clerk accepts in-person and mail requests for these records. For an in-person request, come to the DuPage County Clerk’s Office at 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187 and fill out an application. The office opens between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Include a photocopy of a valid photo ID and a check or money order for copy fees made payable to DuPage County Clerk. The fee for the first copy of a birth, marriage, or civil union certificate is $14. Each additional copy of the same certificate ordered at the same time attracts a charge of $2. The County Clerk charges $18 for the first copy of a death certificate and $6 for each additional copy of the same record requested at the same time.
